Yes indeed it is that time again, today marks the tax deadline for 2007 taxes to be filed. As you might have guessed, google and yahoo are both showing search keywords related to taxes and irs forms as their hottest searches of the day. It never fails that tax deadline day is full of plenty of procrastinators who are frantically trying to finish up their taxes before figuring out how late the nearest post office is staying open. Remember you need to file those taxes by today in order to be eligible to be put into the first batch of tax rebate checks. The tax rebate checks are scheduled to start going out on May 2nd, but those who have not filed will not be receiving a check.
You absolutely don't have the time to get things finished up today? It's ok, just file for an extension using the form 4868 from the IRS website. There are also many companies out there who will work with you to file the form 4868 as quickly as possible once today's deadline passes. If you are unable to file your taxes today it doesn't mean that you won't be able to receive an economic stimulus plan check at all, but the sooner you file your form 4868 the better off you will be.
I'm sure many of you have put a lot of time into working toward today's deadline. Whether you turned in your taxes weeks ago, or you turned them in today, there is little doubt that you are participating in the nationwide sigh of relief that tax filing season is finally over.
