The information that everyone had been waiting for was released by the IRS last week. Everyone has been wanting to know when they will be getting that economic stimulus/tax rebate plan check. Now the answer is out there for all to see. The IRS website has a table on its site which shows what date your check will be in the mail. ![]()
The government has decided to send these checks out by Social Security Number. The first to receive their checks will be those who have a social security number ending in 00-09. For those who are filing jointly, the first social security number listed will determine when the payment goes out. Of note is the fact that those who have chosen direct deposit on their federal income tax returns will be the first to receive their stimulus payment from the IRS.
It is important to remember that this schedule only applies to those who file their taxes by the deadline of April 15, 2008. In order to receive a tax rebate check at all this year a taxpayer must file their taxes by October 15, 2008 at the very latest. The IRS says that the vast majority of stimulus payments will be completed by July 11th, but that it will continue sending weekly payments after that date to accomodate those whose tax returns are processed after April 15th.
So there you have it, the tax rebate plan payment schedule is out and available to the public. With all of this information there is simply no reason why you shouldn't be planning ahead to know what you'll do with this tax rebate when you receive it.
If you are interested in more details surrounding the economic stimulus plan GrowYourFunds provided a detailed look at it last month.

Aaron,
I hope the stimulus will produce the boost that is hoped for! In the long run though isn't increased personal savings more desirable? It seems to me that much of our problem is overspending both personal and governmental. It also seems that there are lots of mixed messages in this regard coming from our government.
Thanks for the information you are providing.
