For the second year in a row, Indra Nooyi, CEO of PepsiCo (NYSE:PEP) has been named the most powerful woman in business by Fortune Magazine. Nooyi was the lead negotiatior in Pepsi's $13.8 billion purchase of Quaker Oats in 2001, which has turned out to be a brilliant business move for the company. Nooyi, 51, has Pepsi's
ship sailing in the right direction. The company's stock is at an all-time high, and earnings per share are also at record levels.
The rest of the top five goes this way:

3. Meg Whitman- CEO and President of eBay (Nasdaq:EBAY)
4. Angela Braly- CEO of Wellpoint (NYSE:WLP)
5. Irene Rosenfield CEO of Kraft Foods (NYSE:KFT)
There were 13 new arrivals on the list this year, with Angela Braly placing the highest of the newcomers at #4 on the list.
Interestingly, when Fortune debuted this list in 1998 the list contained only 3 CEO's of publicly-traded companies. The list now contains 13 CEO's of publicly traded companies. The competition continues to get tougher as females around the business world continue to get more and more recognition.
