I wanted to write a little bit about the Roth IRA. Simply put, there is no better decision one could make moneywise than to create an IRA account. The Roth IRA is by far the best choice for any younger investors. The key advantage to the Roth IRA is that it allows your retirement-savings account to grow completely tax free. Tax free growth can make a tremendous difference over a period of time. ![]()
One drawback of the Roth IRA versus the Traditional IRA is that contributions are not tax-deductible. There are however, far fewer restrictions and requirements on withdrawals with the Roth IRA. The Roth IRA does have some income caps which prevents the wealthy from taking advantage of this tool.
There are certainly situations in which the Traditional IRA is the better choice, but the all-around winner in the IRA area has to be the Roth IRA. The Roth IRA is underutilized in this country, and many workers are missing out. The prospect of having your retirement account build up tax free seems to good to be true, but it is not. If you haven't looked into a Roth IRA, you'd do well to do so very soon.
