I hope my Maori friends will accept my condolences on the death of Te Arikinui Dame Te Atairangikaahu who was the Queen of the Maori. She died August 15, 2006.
While this has nothing to do with investing, I feel the need to recognize a force for good in the world. Te Ata has worked tirelessly since 1966 for her people in all of the family clans. She worked to stop the confiscation of Maori lands. She promoted the preservation of the Maori language and culture. She was an effective voice for Maori values and interests both within New Zealand and abroad. She will be sorely missed.
I hope you will join in wishing her immediate family, clan and people peace and comfort and wishing for her that she sleep secure in the arms of her ancestors.

Dame Who? Maori What? According to Bob Newhart, the Maori were best known for their aboriginal fire-eating performances. Are you really serious about this post, or is somebody in the back office just having a little fun pulling your leg at our expense?
