
The best performing sector in 2005 was energy. It returned 31.4%. A surprise for #2 was the utility sector. It returned 16.8%. Number 3 was REITs with a 12.1% return on the year. Healthcare and Financials tied for fourth place with 6.5% returns.
The worst performing sector for 2005 was the Consumer Discretionary which lost 6.4%. This sector includes the autos and was greatly influenced by the dismal performance of General Motors and Ford.
So what sectors do you think will out perform in 2006. Send in your responses and if I get enough for a reliable sample I'll publish them. In any case, I'll tell you what I think.
